So this whole trip obviously happened because of one thing, One Direction. When 1D released dates for the Where We Are Tour my roommate was in class and I was sitting at home incredibly bummed that there was no Minneapolis date for the tour. I just sat there contemplating how cool it would be to make a road trip out of the whole thing. Tickets for the show went on sale November 26, 2013 (I’m pretty sure that’s the date) at 10am. My roommate came home and I blurted out “we can do this right now or we can just wait until the next tour!) We obviously decided to take the chance to get VIP tickets for the show. We ended up getting seats A5 row 8 seats 4 & 5. We were a little bummed that they weren’t closer to the stage but as you can probably tell by the pictures we were WAY closer than we could have imagined!

Finally after waiting out our 250+ days until the show it has sadly come and gone all too soon. We stayed in Chicago from Aug 27-31 and our date of the show we attended was the Aug. 29 date (Liam’s Birthday). We spent the first day exploring Magnificent Mile and spending way to much money shopping :p The second day we were there was show day, the day we had been waiting so long for! We decided to go to the Field Museum to kill time before the show, it actually ended up being really cool and time went by super fast! Since we had VIP tickets we had an early check in time of 3:30 and attend at pre-party at 4:30. We ended up going to our seats around 5:30ish I believe. When we got down to our seats we were completely blown away at how close we were to the stage!

7:00 was show time and it started right on the dot! ‘Highway to Hell’ blasted through the speakers as we waited for 5 Seconds of Summer to come out. They absolutely smashed it and now I can’t wait for their headlining tour in 2015! The boys played for about an hour and then we had about another hour wait time until the 1D boys took the stage at 9!

9:00 finally rolls around after we have killed time doing the Macarena, dancing to ‘Single Ladies’ and belting a mash up of songs from ‘Grease’ the boys came out and started the show with ‘Midnight Memories’ Everything was more perfect than I could have imagined. The boys smashed it! The night went by so fast and before I knew it they were signing off with ‘Best Song Ever’ and even more fireworks! Its crazy how a group can make you so happy and feel so alive!

On our last day we kind of just sat around and sulked that we couldn’t go to the show again but we ended up going to Navy Pier and enjoying the nice breeze by Lake Michigan until it got to hot and we had to call it quits. We scored a free trolley ride back to the hotel and ended up just chilling until late at night when we then went to sit by the river to enjoy our last few hours of being in the wonderful city of Chicago.

Although the trip went by all to fast it was such an amazing time and I’m glad that I got to experience it all with my best friend!! We have a YouTube Channel and vlogged the trip if you want to check it out!

Part 2 should be up soon!
